Camco at COP27 events
Transitioning remote communities to renewable energy

Saturday 12 November | 10:00 – 11:30 EGY

IRENA Pavilion (Blue Zone)
The event will elicit dialogue on transitioning remote, isolated and indigenous communities to clean energy by increased adoption of renewables as an alternative to fossil fuels, particularly diesel. The event will also include a discussion on investment needs and delivery models for renewable energy deployment across these communities.
The scope of discussion during the event will be informed by the findings of an on-going study of case studies and best practices in electricity provision for remote communities across different regions, which covers different renewable technologies in use, strategic partnerships and delivery mechanisms deployed, level of community involvement and ownership, resulting socio-economic impacts, and proven models for replication and scaling up.
