It is with great pleasure that we welcome Brian Lukera Wambani, who joins Camco this week as our new Investment Director.
Brian will be based on our Nairobi office as a key member of the senior management team, with responsibility for structuring and execution across all of Camco’s mandates and business development. This will involve managing equity and debt transactions both at execution and management/monitoring stages. Reporting to Managing Director Geoff Sinclair, Brian will also be involved with the broader development of Camco’s business; this includes the development of new funds and helping to set and achieve Camco’s strategic direction.
Brian’s wealth of expertise and experience working across a diverse array of investment and financial roles in Africa is exceptional and convinced us that he was the ideal candidate for the role during an eagerly contested recruitment process.
Most recently, Brian worked for Stanbic Bank as Vice President, Corporate Financing Solutions, East Africa, where he assumed an origination and lead transactor role providing debt solutions across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Before that he spent more than three years at Rabobank as its Relationship Manager (Business Development), Trade and Commodity Finance Africa and a further five years with Standard Bank Group, starting out as a Project Finance analyst for Stanbic Bank and ending up an associate in Structured Trade and Commodity Finance at Standard Bank, London.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) Degree in Chemical Engineering from Montreal’s McGill University and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Finance and International Banking from Glasgow’s University of Strathclyde, graduating with a distinction.
A little-known fact about Brian is that while working as a part-time undergraduate researcher at McGill University, he designed, built and ran a biochemical reactor to treat wastewater.
A man of many talents, we are excited to welcome Brian into the Camco fold and are looking forward to seeing him take a central role in developing the company as a leading climate and impact fund manager.
